1996 Engine Chev 3.1L 3100My 1996 Monte Carlo has the 3100 3.1L in it i have replaced almost everything after 140,000 miles. Since i have replaced most components the 2 things i can not replace on my own are the fuel pump and fuel filter. The car will run fine for 2-3 days then all the sudden it sputters then quits. About 30 mins to an hour later starts right back up likr thr old reliable car she is. None the less my mechanic said Cary its either fuel filter or the fuel pump!!! Problem is he said i have to drop the gas tank to get to either or both. I need to know if this is a fact or BS. Please reply ASAP because i was told with labor and the parts which i will buy both filter and pump it will run me like $400.00
